Howard and I came to the Sunshine Coast on holiday in 1989. We fell in love. On rainy days, we did the laundry and drove around. As a result of our exploring we found a lot on the Sechelt Inlet. We put an offer on it and it was accepted. We were all set to build a summer home. After the holiday we returned to the reality of our busy life, Howard building houses and me looking after children. The Sunshine Coast kept calling to us, so we listed our home in Cloverdale, sold it in two weeks, came to Sechelt and bought a home. In one short month we were living here. Howard seamlessly transferred his construction company here and the kids slipped into a safer environment and school.
Eventually we built the laundromat on Wharf Rd and another in Gibsons. One thing led to another and we were doing a Diaper Service and Linen Service for restaurants. As the economy took a downturn we were looking for new markets. In 1997, with linens already in our inventory we expanded to dishes, stem wear and cutlery and rebranded ourselves Gibsons Party Rentals.
As a child I always looked for ways to avoid doing the dishes and now I make a living doing dishes. I hope my mother appreciates the irony of this.
Every year we expanded our inventory. If you needed it, and we thought we could rent it out again we brought it in for you. We made a big leap forward and added large event tents all the way down to our smallest 15 x 15. Our largest tent can accommodate over 200 people. This made us a one stop rental company, but with a small town feel.
Our local customers can repeat their orders from year to year, we keep it all on file. We are available 24/7 thru internet on-line ordering, email, and by phone. We understand you cannot arrange a wedding at work so we make it work for you.
